VINTAGE STYLE MEETS MODERN COMFORT

I came across this wonderful website, Ruche, via 100 Layer Cake that features fashionable clothing that is a "modern boutique with a vintage touch", which is their slogan.  Now I have never been super fashion forward, I dress more for comfort, but in a cute way.  Finding this website has inspired me to be a little more daring with my clothes.  Believe it or not when I was in high school and college I dressed up everyday, which also means wearing heels!  Right now my favorite pair of shoes are my laceless Converses, so if that is any indication of what my style is, its probably time I changed it up.

To check them out go here
  Ruche's collection ranges from dresses to shoes to accessories.  I am determined to dress for comfort, but to be a little bit more on point with trends. Here are some of my favorite pieces from Ruche:
Madly Deeply Yours Maxi Dress

Vanity Fair Corset Dress

Flying Solo Charcoal Belted Cardi

Beautifully Studded Tuxedo Jacket

You Melt My Heart Ring

Four Letter Word Necklace

Chelsea Crew "Janice" Wedges

Uptown Elegance Red Cashmere Scarf

Love Boat Nautical Striped Purse
Well I guess we'll have to see if I can change my ways...let me know what you like and has inspired up!

LIVING ROOM FABRIC PROGRESS...

I have slowly been making progress on my living room redo and have finally found some fabric that goes with my inspiration fabric that I am using for the colors.  This is what the inspiration piece looks like for a reminder:

The two fabrics that I have found are going to be made into pillows, but I still need to find some fabric for curtains.  Here is what I have so far:

Once the pillows are made and more fabric is found I will post again later! Bye for now!

CURRENTLY IN LOVE WITH...

According to the calendar (and not the weather) spring is finally here! Even though where I live its still raining everyday, I saw little green flower buds starting to peak through the ground today.  These chairs by Anthropologie inspires spring and warmer days to come. They are so much fun and just happy looking.  I love how each chair is a different color and swirl, but apart of the same family.  These chairs would look so good around a simple colored table such as black or white and letting the chairs speak for themselves.

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL...

I have been redoing my house, slowly but surely...project by project. My current little project is to find a medium-sized mirror for my bedroom. However, the simplest and smallest of mirrors are way more than I want to spend.

Yesterday I was at Value Village and after much looking I finally found the perfect mirror for only $6.99, bbuuutt... its plastic "wood", white, and had redish streaks coming through the wood veins. Its not much now, but a good coat of spray paint will make all the difference!

Here is the finished product, isn't it beautiful???

CHAIR OBSESSED

I wandered into a Pier 1 one day last week to kill some time and I came to their well known papasan section. There was a wicker chair that I had never seen before and it had a fuzzy chocolate chair cushion. At first glance it doesn't seem that it would be the most comfortable of chairs, but looks can be deceiving. This is an amazing chair that not only swivels, but also rocks and tilts! If you happen to be near a Pier 1 you should definitely check out this great chair and be obsessed too!

Also comes in Garnet and Carafe Brown

LIVING ROOM INSPIRATION

I recently have been working on redoing my living room to be lighter and brighter.  This is very difficult for me because I am in love with very bold saturated colors, which doesn't work very well for my current small cramp living room.

So I have painted most of the walls in a neutral color and after much debate about what colors would go with the current furniture and accessories, I found this pillow from Linen House as a source of color inspiration. Hopefully when everything is complete the room will be light and airy, but also satisfies my need for pattern and color! More pictures to come!!!

Green is one of my absolute favorite colors and can't wait for the one day a year where it is mandatory to wear green no matter what! I love all shades of green and couldn't wait to share this 'All Things I Love' post because there are all shades of green, which makes up this beautiful composition. Hope you all are embracing wearing green today, so you don't get pinched! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A WHOLE LOTTA LATTICE AND TRELLIS

Much to my delight I have seen an increase in all sorts of lattice and trellis patterns on anything from fabric to wallpaper and stencils to furniture and accessories. I am a particular fan of this trend because of the bold and graphic, yet classic nature of this pattern. My heart skips a beat everytime I glimpse this lovely pattern.

Its great as an oversized wall pattern or as a very small decorative element on a piece of furniture. The lattice pattern I have showcased here is one of my absolute favorites and its seen EVERYWHERE!!! It makes everything so much fun!

Hope you love this pattern as much as I do now!

CLOSET ADDICTIONS

My newest closet addiction is Parvez Taj's prints.  If you have never come across his work before, prepare to be inspired and captivated. He uses all sorts of media to make his art come to life, such as photography, software, and UV cured inks, then puts his prints on materials ranging anything from canvas to glass to cement just to name a few. Parvez Taj works to connect art with a contemporary way of living that is hip and modern in every sense. His company does an art collection twice a year reflecting various moods and themes of the spring and fall seasons.

My favorite attribute of his prints is how he marries soft nature scenes with vibrant technological flair that work to make beautiful and innovative pieces of art. Below are just some of my favorites of his:

{2 Hours}

{Montana}

{Ocean Drive Square}

{Underground}

{S10 7}

CURRENTLY IN LOVE WITH

I have always been a fan of fun area rugs, but have been too afraid to risk trying something out of the box in my own space. So when I saw these fabulous rugs by Madeline Weinrib Atelier I fell in love! There are tons of different patterns and colors to fit any type of space. Now I just wish I had the guts to put one in my space...hopefully one day it will happen!

GREAT WAY TO START THE WEEKEND!

I recently have taken a greater interest in photography and plan on joining a photography club once I get a better camera.  However, until that time comes I have taken to playing around with my point and shoot camera and attempting to capture great moments around me.

It snowed the previous night and my boyfriend and I took a walk with the doggie, which by the way is the first time you get to see her, and went to the elementary school just down the road.  I took pictures of her while she ran in circles around us!  She was loving the snow and her happiness really shows.  These pictures alway puts me in a better mood whenever I see them, so ENJOY!

How can you not love this happy face?

Have a GREAT weekend!!!

HOMELESS WINDOW

I have a window that was found on the side of the road forever ago. It has sat in the corner of the kitchen collecting dust and hasn't made its way towards any sort of function or home, whether decorative or useful.  I finally decided today would be the day that it would be moved and be transformed into something great.  I narrowed it down to three options of what it could become: a dry erase board, picture frame, or a piece of art by applying a decorative piece of paper or fabric behind it.

First I wiped all the dust off and then spray painted it a turquoise color.  Once I decided what it was going to be used for I hung it in the spare bedroom next to the desk.  I chose to use it as a dry erase board and the extra wide bottom portion of the frame was perfect to pin receipts or little notes to.  As of right now this is where the homeless window is going to stay, but who knows if it will stay in this spot or become something different...

LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW....

Image taken from http://www.sarabareilles.com/

Right now I'm listening to Sara Bareilles' "Breathe Again" from her Kaleidoscope Heart album.  If you haven't listened to the entire album yet, you really should! It is beautifully done and has a strong piano presence, which is refreshing from the current music trends. I find this album inspirational because she sings about love, lost, and heartache, which can be depressing, but she has spun it into a happy and almost bouncy kind of way to sing about these topics. Sara Bareilles' songs always seem to put me in a good mood and free up my mind to be inspired by anything around me.  If you haven't already, I would strongly advise you to listen to this great album.....and who knows maybe you will be inspired as well!
