3 YEAERS AGO....

Yesterday Aaron and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary! We have come a long way from the first day we met each other, which by the way was in a beer garden at Pig Out In The Park. For the anniversary we went out to breakfast, out on the boat, and rented a movie. It was a pretty chill day and of course we exchanged a few simple gifts.

Aaron gave me a little bouquet of flowers and a card. I did something alittle cheesy....ok A LOT cheesy. I have to give you a little background first. Aaron suffers from a badly healed rib that gives him a lot of pain in his back and arms, so.....I made him a massage coupon with four coupons. This way he can get a few professional massages whenever he wants or his back is killing him!

CLOSET ADDICTION

Happy Friday everyone! To bad Friday is now my new Monday...oh well, I can still wish you all a Happy Friday!

Now on to my closet addiction, which for most girls isn't so much a closet addiction as a way of life. I hate to admit it, but my closet addiction are stilettos! I wore them a lot maybe 6 years ago, but they started inconveniencing me, so I switched to flats (my favorites being converses!).

A girl can always dream and still love them from afar!

MORE HOMEMADE ART!

Lately Aaron (my boyfriend) and I have been talking about how much stuff we have...me mostly though. Most of the stuff I have is scattered around the house and is for crafting. I have gathered quite the collection of crafting supplies and fabrics over the past year. So I have decided to put what I have to use in any way possible. This is where more of my homemade art comes into play.

I took some left over fabric from a previous project and decided that it would work in my blue, black, and white bedroom, but I had to figure out how to display them.

So I took two extra sewing hoops and spray painted them black, stretched the fabric into it and BAM....its done.

How easy was that? And look how cute they are! They also match perfectly with my previous homemade art for the bedroom!

More pictures to follow showing the completed wall of art as my headboard!

GOOD OL' HOMEMADE ART

Lets be totally honest....I'm not very good at picking out art. In fact I'm not really a fan of a lot of art thats out there. Even though I'm an interior designer and thats suppose to be my thing, its not! I recently had a discussion about art with a coworker. Nothing too in depth just likes and dislikes, and I came to the realization that I don't have a type or style that I like or care about. I really just like what I like, simple as that.

Now lets not forget that I live with a boy, who has the total opposite design sense from me, so picking out any sort of art just doesn't work. I have been reading a lot of posts over at Young House Love about making your own art from items you love. For an example this is one piece of art they made here:

I took their concept of art and decided to try it out for myself. I had given my boyfriend this great card for Valentine's Day. It has a strong graphic, which is what I love, and you can instantly understand the meaning behind it.

I got a picture frame from Kohl's that already had a white matte board around it to frame the card and not to mention it was on a great sale at 55% off!

All I did was pop the back off, removed the picture place holder sheet, and inserted my fun Valentine's Day card, and ta-da!

I love this piece of art because nobody else has it and its the perfect way to keep sentimental gifts in great condition!

SO NOT ME...

I was over at Young House Love and saw they took a quiz by Ethan Allen on 'What's My Signature?'. So I decided to try my hand at it.  The quiz was super fast and easy. It asked you to click on the picture that you liked most and this is my signature:

hmmmmm....this is not exactly what I thought I would end up being. I tried it one more time and still ended up with elegance! If I had to choose between the five styles I would definitely say I'm modern. Oh well I guess Ethan Allen knows me too well!

Which signature are you?

NEW LOGO

So I decided to change the logo for my etsy shop, Color Me Happy Boutique! I felt the old logo was kind of blah and hard to read. This is what the old logo looked like:

And this is what the new one looks like now:

I feel that this logo is happier, more whimsical, and fits what the shop is all about!

NEW LIGHTING

My boyfriend's house is over a hundred years old and it came with some questionable lighting. To put it nicely there is a different light fixture in each room and they are pretty ugly. Like this one:

and this one:

and this one:

We decided it was time to change some of these fixtures especially in the most used rooms. We happened to go to the Habitat For Humanity Store one weekend and ended up walking away with a pair of matching lights for the dining and living room.

The glass had a finish on it that made it look rustic...well when the boyfriend tried to clean them up this is what the first one ended up looking like:

Whatever the finish had been on the glass was washed away and we were left with white frosted glass with little pieces of the old finish left in certain areas.  We will have to figure out what we want to do to remedy the situation, but for now this is what we got!  Let me know if there are any good suggestions or ideas out there!
